Scientific Banner TrackingThis article is designed to show you how to get the most of your banner advertising. It focusses specifically on banner advertisements for affiliate programs, but is useful for banner advertising in general, as well. Most Affiliate Programs are setup to show you how many hits, impressions and sales are coming from each Affiliate Member. However, most Affiliate Programs don't give you the chance to see how many clicks and sales you're receiving from each of your banners. Though your Affiliate Program's success relies greatly on where your banner is placed and how it is promoted; you'll also find that success lies in the banner's ability to grab the visitor's attention, inform them about your product and motivate them to click-through to your site. For example, let's say you have 4 banners: A, B, C and D. The four banners show the following: · A- Picture of your product With an average Affiliate Program, you wouldn't have a way to see which of these banners was really pulling for you - at least not an automatically! You would have to visit each of the sites to see which banner they are using, tally up the impressions and click-throughs that each banner received and compute an impression to click-through ratio. Then, you could make changes to a banner that you think may bring you more hits. If Banner B got more hits than Banner C - you could add more red to Banner C. If A got more than D, you may assume that people like to actually see the product, not just read about it. After changing and re-uploading the banners, you'll have to wait for someone to sign up for the banner, place it on their website and start generating traffic. Then, you'll have to go back to visiting sites and counting click-throughs to see if your changes worked! Don't waste your valuable time! Now, The Affiliate Program Software gives you the opportunity to see how well each of your banners is doing with a new accessory called the Banner Tracking Module. This Module will help you determine which banners are getting the click-throughs and sales. The Banner Tracking Module will show you a comprehensive report including: · A picture of the banner From this report, you'll be able to see which banner is getting more hits and, even better, which banner received more hits compared to the amount of times it was shown. But there's still one variable left with the Banner Tracking Method… Your users still have their choice of banners. This throws a bit of a wrench into the plan. How will you know if Banner A is really a good banner - or if it just happens to appear on a few great websites? Well, The Affiliate Program Software has another Module that will work hand in hand with the Banner Tracking Module to eliminate all variables. The Rotating Banner Module will help you by serving up all of your banners on an equal, rotating basis. Since all of your banners will be shown an equal basis, you'll be able to get a true picture of how well each one is doing. Plus - you'll also be able to test different colors, wording and layouts to create the perfect, traffic-driving banner. Let's go back to our example of the 4 banners: · A- Picture of your product Now, assuming that each of the banners is shown equally across all of your Affiliate sites, you could make true, scientific determinations on what works and what doesn't. If Banner C is pulling better than Banner B, you may try placing more red in Banner B. Or, you could try Banner B with the word "Free" in blue. You may find that it pulls even better than Banner C! Simply make the changes and upload the new banner. It will be placed into rotation immediately. Visitors will start seeing the new banner right away! Within a short period of time, you'll be able to see if your changes worked. If they didn't, you can keep trying. Make changes, rule out changes that didn't work. Find the combination that works - because the right combination will mean an increase in click-throughs and a greater chance for an increase in sales!
